It’s been a while…

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

I haven’t written anything here in a while, so I figure I’d add a quick update on what’s been happening in Emil-world as of late.

For one, I graduated. Here’s proof:

Emil Falcon graduation

That was me in my grad gown, along with my most enthusiastic supporter, the Chrysanthemum herself. And yes, the wine was free, and not terrible either!

So in order to celebrate, we had a BIG FEAST at this place called le Python de la Fournaise (quite good). Here’s me biting Chrissy in between meals:

A week later, we headed down to NYC for the weekend, checked out Times Square, Broadway, downtown Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, the Greenwich Village, and then some. We blew 100$ US each on the Broadway musical “Rent”, BUT (and I never thought I’d say this) I think it was actually worth it!

Check out this giganormous US flag in front of the NY Stock Exchange:

What you DON’T see are the cops armed with machine guns standing 2 feet besides us. And the reason you don’t see them is because they were not pretty people (I only take pictures of pretty people).

I then headed out on my Alcan trips…first to Chicago, then to Guadalajara Mexico. Here’s a picture of me being michevious on the streets of downtown Guadalajara:

We then continued our journey to drug-cartel capital Matamoros, where we wrapped up work early, crossed the Mexican border on foot into Texas, and chilled on the beaches of South Padre Island (which, as I write this, is being ravaged by hurricane Emily).

We ended up doing a lot of useful work there though, mainly this Alcan sandcastle…

Here’s me and Ed, after a hard day’s work:
Alcan, hard work

And here’s me testing out gravity inside the Alcan hole (you never know, things might be different in there):

And finally, the ensuing destruction that must follow any of my time-consuming projects:
SOX castle destruction!

I got tanned, Ed turned pink, and we had loads fun. We chickened out of real bungie jumping and settled for one crazy reverse-bungie jump, which equally freaked the hell outa me, but Ed’s got the evidence, so ask him.

I’m currently in Richmond, VA, and will be stuck here for the next 3 days. Then off to Brazil! See you all from the streets of Rio!
